Goddess: A Body-Painting Workshop

Body-Painting Workshop

Date:  October 9, Saturday
Time:  Starts promptly at 1:00 and finishes 8-9pm

Dear Friends,

This is a workshop about shedding the false beliefs and critical judgments we as women all have about ourselves. It's about stripping away all of the self-conscious, self-critical, self-limiting and even self-loathing inner dialog that many of us have been carrying since childhood and revealing our true innate feminine selves--abundantly sensual, exquisitely gorgeous, supremely confident and absolutely divine.

I am ...providing a safe space for all the women to enjoy the spirit of feminine energy during the process of being creative and artistic while painting each others bodies.

The workshop will be held Saturday, October 9th, and will start promptly at 1:00pm. Please have a light lunch and arrive half an hour ahead of time so we can all enjoy a cup of tea or glass of champagne together and begin painting at the same time.

The location is The Loft Space, 319 Grand Street, No. 4. We have over 2800 square feet in which to paint each other, dance and pose for studio portraits. A photographer will be documenting the event and photos will be made available to participants; a complimentary 8x10 print is included with enrollment and digital files will be available for $5 per image, or prints on a sliding scale, from $5 to $15 depending on size.

The $50 enrollment fee also covers the cost of paints, drinks, and snacks during our afternoon break.

For the dress code, I suggest being nude or wearing a bikini or thong. We use skin-safe paints and there is a spacious shower for us to wash off the paints.

Please confirm your participation in the workshop by Friday, October 1st, and contact me if you have any questions or just to get in touch with me to talk.

NOTE: We may also hold a brief pre-workshop get-together the evening of Friday, October 8. During this informal chat painting partners would be assigned either by choice (if you've come with a friend) or by random, depending on your preference. It would be an opportunity for all involved to introduce themselves and familiarize themselves with the art space. More info soon!

If you are uncertain about participating you can also be a bystander and see how it unfolds and maybe join in later when you are comfortable. The drinks are served to perhaps loosen us up a bit but is totally voluntary of course. [drinking just before painting only].

I like to emphasize this is about excepting yourself and others the way we are and putting aside judgments.

So it is a challenge to expose oneself but it is entirely up to you how much you like to expose, I want everybody to feel comfortable and maybe only have one leg or arm exposed if this is what you choose.

This is a group experience and it has therapeutic value to each and everyone. I have been part of a group therapy [The Human Potential Development, director: Carlos Velasquez] for over ten years and have experience with coaching people. I will bring this insight to the workshop.

When we meet I will have you introduce yourself and give a short description why you are here and what you like to take away from this experience, also what you are willing to let go of [fears pain shame etc.] I will lead a ritual to bring you in touch with your goddess self.

Then we pair up and paint each other.

At the end we join in a circle passing the talking stick to share our emotions about the experience of being painted. Celebrate being women of all ages and of diverse backgrounds, different shapes and forms.

At last understanding that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience.

And leaving with an open heart.

Love and Light,

Johanna
